# Bangkok to Pattaya Travel Guide: Buses, Taxis & Trains

Travel from Bangkok to Pattaya with ease. Compare bus schedules, airport transfers from BKK & DMK, trains, Grab fares, and taxi tips.

**Travel time:** 90 minutes if the highway is clear, three hours on a Friday afternoon. Every option I’ll give you ends at one of three places — Pattaya North Bus Terminal on North Pattaya Road, Jomtien Bus Station in the south, or your actual hotel. Or at a train station.

#### ****Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK):** 4 real options

1. ****The airport bus.** Level 1, near Gate 8\. 6 Bell buses between 8.30 am and 6 pm. from 226 Baht. Roong Reuang Coach: 24 Buses between 6 am and 10 pm. from: 149 Baht.
2. ****Metered taxi.** Take a queue number at the taxi desk on Level 1\. 1,200 to 1,800 baht with the highway tolls and the 50 baht airport surcharge. Insist on meter. Avoid limousine counter - too expensive. Tip: Never use a taxi in Thailand – overpriced, scam alert!
3. ****Grab or Bolt.** Public ride-hailing area following the signs. Price locks in the app: 1,500 to 2000 baht.
4. ****Pre-booked private transfer.** 1,500 to 2,500 baht for a sedan. 2,000 to 3,500 for a van or SUV. Book through 12go.asia, GetYourGuide.

#### ****Don Mueang Airport (DMK)**

Don Mueang sits on the wrong side of Bangkok for Pattaya. **But there is a direct Bus 999\.** Counters in the arrivals area. 167 baht. 6 daily departures between 6.30 am and 5.30 pm.

****Other options:**

A) Grab. 2,000 to 2,500 baht with tolls. 2.5 to 3.5 hours.

B) Get to a bus termina. International Passenger Terminal, Building 1, Floor 1, Gate 6\. A1 airport bus (30 baht) to Mo Chit BTS station. every 15 minutes between 5.45 am and midnight. Then take Pattaya bus from Mo Chit Bus Terminal.

If you're arriving late at night, a pre-booked private transfer at 2,000 to 3,000 baht is the only sane move.

#### ****Mo Chit Bus Terminal**

Mo Chit (the Northern Bus Terminal at Chatuchak) runs Pattaya buses through Roong Reuang Coach. 168 baht. 14 departures from 5 AM to 6 PM. 2.5 hours to Pattaya North Bus Terminal.

The Mo Chit Van Terminal sits across the road. Vans depart more frequently, around $5 but luggage space is brutal. One suitcase per person, max.

#### ****Hua Lamphong Train Station**

Train 283 – daily. Departs Hua Lamphong at 6:55, arrives around 10:35\. 30 baht.

Train 997 — weekends only. Departs at 6:45, arrives around 9:30\. 170 baht for second-class aircon car. Pre-book on dticket.railway.co.th.

Pattaya Railway Station sits east of Sukhumvit Road, near Soi Thepsurin. From there you grab a baht bus, motorbike taxi or Grab to your hotel.

#### ****Ekkamai Bus Terminal**

Directly next to the BTS Ekkamai skytrain station.

Roong Reuang: 16 departures between 5 am and 10 pm. From 158 Baht.

Ignore the touts outside.

#### ****Hotel-to-Hotel**: 3 options

1. Grab or Bolt. Open app, type hotel address, confirm. Driver waits in front of the hotel. Usually 1,500 to 2,000 baht.
2. Hotel-arranged car. Many mid-range and luxury hotels can book a private car for you. 1,500 to 2,500 baht.
3. Private driver. Never taxi.

#### ****Booking platforms worth bookmarking**

12go.asia — best for comparing buses, vans, trains, and ferries in one search.

GetYourGuide — strongest for private transfers and rides bundled with tours.

BusOnlineTicket.co.th — the Thai-side booking platform for buses.

dticket.railway.co.th — official State Railway site for train 997 and the daily ordinary trains.
